Every batch of Capannari Ice Cream starts with only the freshest and finest ingredients. Master chef Jim Capannari creates each of his super-premium flavors in his state-of-the-art kitchen. Here, in the Mount Prospect store, only four gallons of ice cream are blended at a time, guarantying only the freshest, most flavorful products.

In addition to a wide variety of all-time classics, Chef Jim Capannari masterfully creates truly distinctive, mouth-watering flavors, like rich & decadent Black Raspberry Chip, seasonal favorites like Irish Coffee, and gourmet flavors like Ginger. From classic Vanilla to upscale Lavendar, Capannari Ice Creams have been widely recognized and honored for their rich, super-premium taste & texture.

Family Owned & Operated

Capannari Ice Cream opened it's doors in June, 2001 — the combined venture of Jim & Meg Capannari and Ken & Katie Dix. In just 5 short years, they have catapulted their gourmet ice cream shop to one of Illinois' most respected small businesses. Today, Capannari Ice Cream employs over 25 people to bring "Chicago's Best" ice cream to the masses.

Community Involvement

Capannari Ice Cream is a fixture in the community. Every year, Capannari Ice Cream hosts a multitude of fun and creative events in their Mount Prospect shop, from 50's night, to Ice Cream Idol, to Mooo-vie nights. They support local schools and children, with events like the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Coolest School Contest, Report Card Day, and Concerts in the Park. They maintain an active presence in community-based events like Arlington Heights' Frontier Days, Mount Prospect's 4th of July Parade, and River Trails Park District's Crime Prevention Night. In recognition of their exceptional community involvement, Capannari Ice Cream was awarded Business of the Year Award by the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce in December, 2004 - only 2½ short years after opening their doors.

A Historical Setting

Capannari's old-fashioned ice cream parlor evokes simpler times. Reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting, Capannari Ice Cream is located in the old Moehling General Store and Post Office, built in downtown Mount Prospect in 1882. One of the town's first establishments, the 19th century building was authentically restored to look much as it did in its early days. The vintage two-story, wood frame ice cream shop still features the original beams and white oak floors, along with an inviting, relaxing, wrap-around front porch. Whether arriving by car, by bike, or by foot, Capannari Ice Cream is a destination point for people of all ages who come to enjoy a scoop, relax, and talk together.
